Greyhounds News · 2020 Athletes Commit To Play At The Next Level

Eaton Rapids High school once again has an outstanding group of student/athletes in the class of 2020. This article highlights 12 of those student/athletes that have already signed their national letters of intent and/or commitment agreements and a few of their personal comments on why they chose their prospective university/college.

Caleb Fish (Wrestling): I have always had a passion for wrestling. It has always been my dream to wrestle at the collegiate level. Michigan State University presented a great opportunity, both academically and athletically, with the programs they offer.

Chris Haynes (Wrestling): I chose Lake Erie College because I have a good relationship with the team and coach.

Dylan Norris (Wrestling): I chose Lake Erie College because I am able to wrestle and go to school with some of the best people I know. Also it gives be a bigger opportunity.

Grace Lehto (Softball): I chose CMU because I really liked the campus and I had already made good relationships with the coaches there. I also felt like the girls on the team were really hard workers and I want teammates that are going to work hard and push me.

Hayley Foster (Cheer): I chose Adrian college to further my education studying fashion merchandising. I will also continue my athletic career on their newly restructured and growing cheerleading team.

Kyra Acker (Softball): I chose Hope because the campus felt like a good fit for me and I like what the college itself stands for. I’m excited to attend Hope in the fall and play softball.

Mallory Orr (Softball): I chose to sign at Olivet College because of their outstanding insurance program and career opportunities after my four years there. Coach Brown and my future teammates are incredibly welcoming and I’m more than excited to be a student-athlete at OC!

Marshall Meeder (Football): I chose Central Michigan because they were so welcoming and made me feel at home. Fire up chips!

Peyton Benjamin (Basketball & Softball): I chose Hope College because the campus and people are great and I get the opportunity to continue to do what I enjoy most.

Savanna Overholtz (Softball): I chose Delta College because I like the coach and they had a great dental hygienist program.

Shelby Warner (Softball): I will be attending Lansing Community College on a two-year softball scholarship, but the reason I chose Lansing community College is not about the money. LCC has a great softball program, one of the best junior college programs in the nation. They were the best fit for me because they are close to home and allow me to get my prerequisites done before transferring to a larger college.

Quentin Henderson (Pole Vault): I chose Lansing Community College so that I could continue to work with my current pole vault coach.

Once again, congratulations to these student/athletes and their families. Please keep watch on the ER Athletics social media accounts for more and more recognition of greyhound athletes. We are ER! Go ‘Hounds!
