Volleyball:

3.  Novi’s Erin O’Leary was named this season’s Miss Volleyball Award winner on the eve of her team’s Class A Quarterfinal against honorable mention Temperance Bedford; Novi is the reigning champ and ranked No. 2 – Observer & Eccentric

4. Class C top-ranked Bronson is plenty familiar with tonight’s Quarterfinal opponent, No. 2 Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central – Sturgis Journal

5. Class B No. 4 Niles is hoping to add to its first District and Regional titles with a first Quarterfinal win, over No. 3 Lake Odessa Lakewood – Niles Daily Star

6. Class A No. 3 Grand Rapids Christian downed top-ranked Rockford in the Regional, a big step as the Eagles pursue their first MHSAA championship in the sport with No. 4 DeWitt up next – FOX17

Girls Golf:

Traverse City West’s Anika Dy was named Miss Golf for the second time by the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association – Traverse City Record-Eagle

 

Cross Country:

Coldwater’s Shuaib Aljabaly and Lansing Catholic’s Olivia Theis were named Mr. Cross Country and Miss Cross County, respectively, by the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association – Coldwater Daily Reporter

 

Hockey:

1. The first games of the season can be played today, and Petoskey is among teams anticipating a return to the ice – Petoskey News-Review

2. As part of its hockey preview, the Livingston Daily Press & Argus highlighted Mr. Hockey candidates Josh Albring of Hartland and Adam Conquest of Brighton – Livingston Daily Press & Argus

Girls Swimming & Diving:

1. Honorable mention Spring Lake will send 10 athletes to the Lower Peninsula Division 3 Finals, including three divers – Grand Haven Tribune

2. Hamilton standout Paige Kuhn is banking on a strong finish in the final meet of her high school career – Holland Sentinel

3. Gaylord sophomore Grace Wambier is a school record holder and hopes to add to her accomplishments at the Division 3 Finals – Gaylord Herald Times

4. No. 7 Brighton is aiming to claim the Division 1 team championship with arguably its strongest assemblage of experienced contenders under coach Jason Black – Livingston Daily Press & Argus

 

Boys Soccer: 

Longtime coach Thaier Mukhtar has resigned as Fraser’s boys coach with nearly 600 wins there and at Warren DeLaSalle – MLive-Detroit

Meet Recap

the girls from ER swam amazing. Leading the way was Senior Allison Pretzel who was conference champion for the second time in the 100 backstroke and runner up in the 50 freestyle. She was also a member of the runner up 200 medley relay with freshman Kailey Stone, Junior Lillian Jones and Freshman Alexis Good and the Conference Championship 200 Freestyle relay team joining Freshman Maggie Etue, Freshman Alexis Good and Freshman Marhea Cribley. The 400 Freestyle relay finished Third also earning all league honors with Cribley, Etue, Jones and Stone. Top individual finisher included Junior Lillian Jones finishing 3rd in the 500 freestyle and 4th in the 200 freestyle, Freshman Mahrea Cribley who was Third in the 200 freestyle and 5th in the 500 freestyle. Joining the point scoring in the 200 freestyle was Sophomore Katie Stoner who won the B finals to finish 9th. The 200 IM had Senior Amber Lehto win the B finals and Soph Anna Dietz finish 13th. The 50 freestyle was well represented by Pretzel finishing 2nd, Etue finishing 6th, Alexis Good winning b finals to finish 9th, Freshman Bella Wartenbe finishing 12th and Freshman Joslyn monahan finishing 16th. Diving found Freshman Monahan finishing 4th, The 100 Butterfly had Good finish 12th and Junior Annika VanKoevering finish 13th. The 100 freestyle had Freshman Etue and Stone finishing 5th and 6th respectively and Junior Jayden Koehn finishing 16th. The next event was the 500 freestyle where Jones 3rd and Cribley 5th were joined by Vankoevering who finished 12th. Joining Pretzel in the awards stand for the 100 backstroke was Katie Stoner who was 8th and Lehto who was winner of the B finals to finish 9th. The last individual event was the 100 Breaststroke were Kailey Stone was 4th with Bella Wartenbe winning the b finals to finish 9th and Anna Dietz was 13th. The Ladies finished the season on a very high note.
