Last Friday, our Lady Greyhounds took on the neighboring Blackhawks of Leslie, beating them 39-18.
The game started slow for the Greyhounds, who have been battling a flu bug that has been going around lately. After 4 minutes, the game was tied at 2-2, before the Greyhounds found some energy and broke open the game with a 13-0 run. By the end of the first quarter, it was 15-2. In the 2nd period, both teams struggled to find any rhythm. Scoring a combined 8 points, Eaton Rapids went into the break up 19-6.
During the 2nd half, the Greyhounds found a little more energy and were finally able to start shooting with more efficiency, putting in enough points to solidify the lead they had. Taking a 14 point lead into the 4th, the Greyhounds cruised to the end from there, earning their 6th victory of the young season.
Emily Cline lead all scorers with 15 points to go with her 7 steals, and 6 rebounds. 5 additional players scored for the Greyhounds with Peyton Benjamin adding 5, Loralei Berry with 5, Kyra Acker with 5, Adi Sysum with 5, and Serenity Horton with 4. Emma Smieska lead the visiting Blackhawks with 11.
The Greyhounds now enter a tough week with back to back away games. First, they travel to Jackson Northwest Tuesday night and take on one of the better teams in the state, and then wrap up the week on Friday with a trip to rival Charlotte. Make the trip with us and come cheer us on!
