The Eaton Rapids Lady Greyhounds defeated the Raiders of Portland despite a slow start from the visiting Greyhounds. Falling behind 13-3 after only a couple of minutes, the Greyhounds increased their intensity, and clawed their way back into the game, despite giving up 25 points in the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter, however, was all Eaton Rapids. Limiting the Raiders to 8 points, the visiting Greyhounds exploded for 24 points themselves, taking a 7 point lead into the halftime break. During the 3rd quarter, the Lady Hounds upped their defensive pressure even more, holding Portland to just 4 points while scoring 8 themselves. Taking an 11 point lead into the 4th quarter, the Raiders made a solid effort to close the gap, but never got closer than 7 points in the final stanza as the Greyhounds hit their free throws to ice the victory. Ari Sysum and Isabell Ausel led all scorers with 18 points a piece, while Ari added 8 rebounds and 4 steals, and Isabell snagged 4 rebounds to go with 4 blocked shots. Peyton Benjamin had an amazing game as well, scoring 13 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals, and 6 assists. Rounding out the scoring were Loralei Berry with 9 points, and Kaylee Benton chipped in 2. The Greyhounds even their record at 8-8 (5-4 in the conference), with their next game a rematch home against Mason, who took the Greyhounds to double overtime during the first match-up. That game is scheduled for Tuesday, February 19.
