With the 2nd half of the season getting underway, our Lady Greyhounds traveled to Lansing Waverly Tuesday for a non-league game against an underrated Warriors team.
Right from the tip, Waverly scored two quick baskets and took a 4-0 lead before the Greyhounds got their legs underneath themselves. Missing on quite a few open layups, Eaton Rapids knew patience would be a benefit, and by the end of the first half, they had established themselves with a tough defense that had lead to some easy scores.
Having a 20-11 halftime lead, the visiting Greyhounds put their foot on the gas pedal, and jumped out in 2nd half on a 8-0 run, opening up a lead that the Warriors couldn’t come back from. Adi Sysum and Peyton Benjamin both led the Greyhounds with 14 points apiece, and Emily Cline knocked down 11. Also scoring were Serenity Horton with 5, Loralei Berry with 4, Kyra Acker with 3, and Shelby Warner with 2. Jasmine Goins led all scorers with 17 points for the Warriors.
The Lady Greyhounds next travel to Lansing Catholic on Friday night with a tough game against a team that is always an extremely difficult challenge.
