The Eaton Rapids Lady Greyhounds beat the Big Reds of Lansing Sexton by using a balanced attack tonight. While the Greyhounds started slow, trailing 1-7 after 3 minutes, the intensity was raised, and Eaton Rapids took over from there, out gunning the Big Reds 15-8 in the first quarter. During the 2nd, 4 different players scored for Eaton Rapids, and they took a 12 point lead into the locker room. Giving a few too many points to the Sexton star player, Tori Blackman, in the first half, the Greyhounds made some defensive adjustments and threw many double teams at her in the 3rd quarter. Because of this intense pressure, the Greyhounds were able to pull away, outscoring the Big Reds by 17 in the stanza, and cruise to the finish from there. Tori Blackman lead all scorers with 20 points, but it wasn’t enough as every Lady Greyhound was able to land in the score book tonight. Ari Sysum lead Eaton Rapids with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. Adding 11 points and 8 rebounds was Isabell Ausel. Loralei Berry, in her first game of the season, contributed 10 points. Rounding out the scoring was Peyton Benjamin with 6 points, Shelby Warner with 6 points and 5 rebounds, Grace Lehto with 3 points, Kaylee Benton with 3 points, Megan Huisman with 3 points and 5 assists, Kyra Acker with 3 points, Mallory Orr with 2 points, and Serenity Horton with 2 points to go with her 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 assists. The Lady Greyhounds are off for a week once more, with a rematch against Lansing Catholic set for next Friday, February 1.
